War and Peace live in cinemas

On 16 July, a live screening of Prokofiev's epic War and Peace is to take place in a number of Scottish venues.  The production is by Graham Vick, and will be conducted by Valery Gergiev. This is not only the first ever live screening of a Mariinsky opera production to be shown in the UK, but also the first opera to be broadcast live from either of its stages.  Starring baritone  Andrei Bondarenko as Prince Andrei and soprano Aida Garifullina as Natasha, the production is sponsored by BP and Rosneft.
