Gareth Williams

Scottish Opera Appoints First Composer in Residence

Posted 25 Nov 2011

Scottish Opera has appointed Gareth Williams as its first ever composer in residence. The post will last for two years and is similar to their successful Emerging Artists Programme. Gareth Williams has already been successful with operatic projects, having created two operas for Five:15, and also the Sloans Project.  Scottish Opera's Alex Reedijk explains "The development of Scotland's artists is an integral part of our responsibility, and the creation of a composer in residence programme is the logical next step by which to extend this process."   Gareth said, "This is a great chance not only to develop my composition skills, but also to do it in an exciting artistic environment."
