English Touring Opera, soon to make their annual visit to the Perth Festival, have just been awarded additional funding from the Arts Council of England in recognition of the consistently high quality of their work - a 7.1% real terms increase, a ringing endorsement indeed. In a sea of cuts to most arts budgets, this is welcome news for operagoers in the less well served parts of the UK. Well done also to Perth and Kinross for your continued support. Our picture shows a scene from one of the two to be presented at Perth - Clemenza di Tito, Mozart's late masterpiece. Buy your tickets now as they are selling fast and there is only one performance of each - the double bill of Il Tabarro and Gianni Schicchi may be sold out already.
