A rare Haydn opera at RCS

Posted 28 Nov 2024

The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland always mounts a full-scale opera during the last week of January. Usually this allows the students to tackle a masterpiece by a popular composer, perhaps a less well-known work by Mozart, Handel or Puccini.  It is a rare treat for us to be able to experience one of Haydn's comic operas. L'infedeltà delusa (Deceit outwitted) is full of superb melodies, both arias and ensembles, with enjoyable dramatic complications.

The first of four performances will be on 25 January.
