Scottish Opera has another anniversary to celebrate. The next Opera Highlights tour will be the twentieth, visiting 18 venues across Scotland. The programme for 2014 is, as always, carefully crafted by Scottish Opera's Director of Music, Derek Clark, combining both familiar and less well known music. It will also feature the world premiere of a brand new work by Scottish Opera's Composer in Residence, Gareth Williams. Four talented young singers and a pianist will visit Livingston, Ardfern, Mull, Ballachulish, Skye, Gairloch, Carrbridge, Orkney, Fortrose, Crieff, Midmar, Montrose, Cupar, Dalbeattie, Selkirk, Arran, Maybole and East Kilbride with their musical mix. This year's singers are mezzo-soprano Máire Flavin (Orpheus in the Underworld, 2011), tenor Paul Curievici (In the Locked Room, 2012), and two of Scottish Opera's 2013/14 Emerging Artists - soprano Sarah Power and baritone Andrew McTaggart. The Director is Lissa Lorenzo, and the pianists will be Claire Haslin and Ruth Wilkinson.
