Nadine Livingstone as Gilda

Rigoletto launched

Posted 11 May 2011

Scottish Opera's new production of Rigoletto has been launched on a tour involving sixteen performances, including two in Belfast and three in Dublin. Despite the darkness of the story, it has some of the best known melodies in music (one London production was advertised as 'the best musical in town') and the opera has never really been out of the mainstream repertory. It has been seen many times in Scotland since the first performance here in 1867. We are promised a fresh look with a large orchestra and chorus, and the word is it comes up fresh as a new coat of paint.
