Robin Ticciati

Ticciati and Cosi fan tutte

Posted 6 Sep 2012

Robin Ticciati (pictured) and the SCO are to perform Mozart's Cosi fan tutte to open the Scottish Chamber Orchestra's 2012-13 season - in Edinburgh (Usher Hall, Thursday 4 October) and Glasgow (City Halls, Friday 5 October).  Ticciati brings to these performances his already considerable operatic experience - from Glyndebourne, Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera New York, and the Salzburg Festival.  He is joined by an exceptionally fine cast of singers.  Sally Matthews, who recently performed the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro at Glyndebourne with Ticciati, plays Fiordiligi and Laura Tatulescu reprises the role of Despina following her performance at the Bavarian State Opera.  Maximilian Schmitt, who last performed with the SCO in Don Giovanni in 2010, takes the role of Ferrando, with Rachel Frenkel as Dorabella and Adam Plachetka as Guglielmo.  Christopher Maltman returns to the SCO to perform his first Don Alfonso.

Ticciati commented: "Two years ago, we performed Don Giovanni and I loved the way the orchestra plays opera.  I love the way they accompany singers and the way we give a performance in which the audience can imagine an operatic setting with their ears and their eyes.... The Orchestra's history with Mozart is very special and I'm happy to be taking that forward into new places."   Follow our link then click on the map pin to go through to the respective box offices.
