Edinburgh Studio Opera launch their latest production, the evergreen Fledermaus by Johann Strauss, full of memorable tunes and with a witty, well turned plot as well. Musical director William Conway, known not just from his days playing with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, but increasingly as a conductor, leads the forty-strong band of young musicians. Director Thomas Henderson brings to bear his growing experience of opera direction together with his past ventures in drama, acting and writing.
Some talented young singers bring to life a modern-dress production, set in Edinburgh's New Town. Their CVs show varied backgrounds and experience, some of them preparing for a performing career.
Edinburgh Studio Opera is still remembered by older hands under the name of its predecessor, Edinburgh University Opera Club - you can read about them here. Click through our listings for some images and book your tickets here now!
