Scottish Opera's Macbeth wins warm reviews

Posted 28 Mar 2014

Verdi's Macbeth is very much portrayed in a contemporary setting in Scottish Opera's revival of Dominic Hill's production.  Hill has not updated it - it was set in a Scotland torn by war, reminiscent of conflict in the Balkans- or dare one think of Ukraine?

David Stephenson in the title role and Elisabeth Meister as Lady Macbeth have won plaudits along with the rest of the cast.  Stephenson said "It's a full-on emotional journey for me as an actor and singer."

Intended to be hard-edged and gritty, the piece oozes dark power and menace.  Book your seats now here.
