Opera Bohemia have announced that Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin is to be performed in their spring tour. Scottish favourites Douglas Nairne and Catriona Clark lead a cast of young professional singers, including Scottish Opera's young artists Ross McInroy and Louise Collet, and English National Opera's tenor from the Barber of Seville, Tyler Clarke.
The opera, based on Alexander Pushkin's famous novel, tells the story of a wealthy young man, who lives to regret his nonchalant dismissal of a young woman's love. John Wilkie's imaginative new production is set at the time of the Russian revolution. Sung in Russian, with English surtitles, and accompanied by piano and violin, this is a great night out for opera lovers and newcomers alike. The final performance at the Beacon Arts Centre, Greenock features the Opera Bohemia ensemble.
