Magic Flute

Posted 19 Oct 2012

Scottish Opera's new production of Mozart's The Magic Flute has opened to general acclaim.  A tried and tested team involving Sir Thomas Allen along with his regular creative colleagues Simon Higlett and Mark Jonathan has put together a production showing the influence Scotland's industrial heritage, has had, including the Age of Enlightenment - and "Steampunk."  Sung in an English translation with English supertitles, it is produced by someone who has very great experience of tha piece and deep understanding of the variety of ways in which it can be staged.  And it's stunning visually too - look at the other images.
