Die Frau Ohne Schatten

Strauss's masterpiece eagerly awaited

Posted 5 May 2011

Opera fans are already looking forward to the Scottish premiere of Richard Strauss's masterpiece, Die Frau ohne Schatten at the Edinburgh International Festival in September. The Mariinsky under Gergiev are capable of great brilliance.

The opera is notoriously difficult to produce convincingly, but the Festival office have released publicity photographs and from the visuals the production looks quite stunning and indeed fitting. Look up the performances in our 'What's On' diary and click through to see all eleven. You can click on one of your choice to enlarge it.

The production is supported by Harold Mitchell Esq, AC and the UK tour as a whole is supported by BP. The photograph is by Natasha Razina. Credit to the Edinburgh International Festival.
