Gounod's great opera Faust, packed full of melody and drama, returns to the stage in Fife Opera's 2015 production.
The work held the stage for around a century, dominating the repertoire and then quite quickly became rarely performed. Our image shows Feodor Chaliapin as Méphistophélès, one of the many great singers to have performed this role. Unfashionable though the opera now is, there is much to admire and it is always a pleasure to listen to.
Fife Opera's production team, relatively young, is now tried and tested, and has been able to bring on some good young singers.
